Kozjak Lake

This Lake was constructed in Shishevo Canyon on the river Treska nearby Skopje. It is 18 km long and penetrates deeply into the region of Poreche. In some places it is up to 130 meters deep and the maximum distance from one to the other shore is 400 meters. The access to the lake is along a solid asphalted read towards the village Breznica. Right above the lake, there are magnificent views towards massif Mokra Planina more precisely towards Karadzica, the region of Poreche and the mountain Suva Gora. According to the attractiveness and functionality of the lake, the construction of the so called water lift is noteworthy, where the water level of the lake will be regulated in phases. This large funnel for control of the water in the rainy periods is second in the world in the rainy periods is second in the world according to its functionality. It was constructed by the same Chinese experts who designed and built the world’s largest dam on the Yellow river in China.
